Maryland adopt travel insurance standard

Travel insurance

On 7 February, Maryland passed House Bill 221, which affects the sale of travel insurance in the state. According to the House, the Bill centres on: “Altering specified provisions of law relating to limited lines insurance for transportation tickets to relate instead to limited lines travel insurance; authorising the Maryland Insurance Commissioner to issue a limited lines licence to an individual or a business entity to sell travel insurance; authorising a travel retailer to offer and disseminate travel insurance under specified circumstances under the direction of a limited lines travel insurance producer.” The Bill has moved on to the Senate, where the American Society of Travel Agents expects it to pass.
