Company brief

johannesburgSouth Africa-based business process outsourcing company Digicall has purchased the Johannesburg arm of medical and security service provider International SOS under a franchise agreement. International SOS has been in South Africa since 1985 and its Johannesburg alarm centre is staffed by a number of doctors and nurses and various specialist co-ordinators, and under the new agreement, Digicall will route emergency calls to the relevant specialist.

Digicall chief executive officer Willem de Clercq said that the company has been interested in moving into the kind of services that International SOS provides for a while, and that it can offer a number of back-office solutions to its new partner’s clients. Eventually, Digicall plans to seek synergies between the two entities. “We have grown through a strategy of niche acquisitions and new start-ups,” added De Clercq. “These businesses were aligned with our overall strategy of becoming a major player in the high volume, predictable claims and transactional processing space.”

Digicall does not anticipate any job losses resulting from the new deal.
