According to an analysis by comparison website Finder.com.au, Australia-based business travellers who visit Hobart International in Tasmania are the most likely group of travellers to experience flight delays.
The data, which was sourced from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics, shows that between 2015 and 2016, over one-fifth of flights did not depart from the airport on time.
Other findings were that both of Australia’s busiest airports had higher rates of missed scheduled departures than most other airports around the country (16.2 per cent).
Townsville had the highest rate of on-time departures, at 90.7 per cent, representing a 3.6-per-cent increase from 2014-2015. It was followed by Adelaide and Perth airports, which both recorded a percentage of on-time flight departures of 90.1 per cent.
Jetstar was found to be the least reliable airway, with more than one-fifth of passengers experiencing arrival delays in the year to June 2016, while Virgin Australia was the most punctual, with an on-time arrivals success rate of 89.5 per cent.
