Seven killed in Mallorca crash
Seven people have been killed in a mid-air collision between a helicopter and a small plane over the town of Inca, on the Spanish island of Mallorca, on Sunday 25 August, 1.35pm local time
Local authorities have reported that five people, including two children, were onboard the helicopter, which, according to local media, was reportedly on a sightseeing tour. Reports suggest that the two individuals onboard the plane were Spanish. There have been speculations over the nationality of the five helicopter fatalities, but as of yet nothing has been confirmed.
All seven people died in the crash, the cause of which is currently unknown.
In a statement released on Sunday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez commented: “My solidarity and affection for the families of the victims who have lost their lives in this tragic accident, including a minor.”
The Civil Guard is currently investigating the crash.
