Tony Rowland, Director of Rowland Brothers International in the UK, has been awarded an MBE – Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire – in this year’s New Year’s Honours List. Honours lists are published biannually in the UK – at New Year and on the Sovereign’s birthday – and are given to ‘reward outstanding service and achievement in a given field or area’. Anyone can nominate anyone else for an honour, and all nominations are administered by central government and approved by HM Queen; they are given out at a special ceremony by a royal host.
Tony began as an apprentice in the funeral industry when he was just 15 years old. Today, at the age of 80, he still works full time and remains passionate about providing efficient and compassionate repatriation of deceased British nationals who die while on holiday or working overseas, and citizens of other countries who die in similar circumstances in the UK.
Congratulations Tony from everyone here at ITIJ!
