Insurance Times, utilising complaints data from the UK’s Financial Ombudsman Service, has offered a ranking of life insurers in terms of customer service, based on how many complaints were upheld. The website found that NFU Mutual had the lowest rate of upheld complaints, with only 17 per cent of the complaints made against it between April and September last year carried forward by the ombudsman. This represents a drop of five per cent from the 22-per-cent rate of upheld complaints the insurer saw between October 2016 and March 2017.
Coming in second with an upheld complaint rate of 18 per cent was LV=, followed by Esure with 19 per cent. MAPFRE, First Central and Red Sands came out at the bottom of the ranking.
