Locomote announces partnership with Allianz

Travel and expense company Locomote, a Melbourne-based start-up, has forged a new partnership with Allianz Global Assistance Australia, which will see Locomote’s platform integrated with Allianz travel insurance services to protect business travellers.

Locomote’s online portal will be backed by Allianz Global Assistance’s travel insurance and ancillary products. It is hoped that this new partnership will boost the burgeoning local business travel insurance industry by offering bespoke insurance and assistance services.

Brad Smith, chief sales officer of Allianz Global Assistance based in Brisbane, Australia, said that helping organisations offer valuable coverage is important. “Our partnership with Locomote will allow us to offer our travel insurance and assistance services to Australian corporate travellers, whether travelling domestically or internationally, enabling us to expand our reach to this growing industry,” he said. “We can see the advantages that Locomote will offer to our channel partners, and we are excited to team up with a business that is reflective of our agile and supportive culture as a company.”

The travel tech startup Locomote launched in 2014 and has provided corporate global travel for heavyweights including ANZ, Medibank and World Vision amongst others. Accessible from every device, their online platform allows companies to discuss, request and book travel, offering tools and services that streamline every aspect of travel from requests, authorisations and bookings to budget, duty of care and expenses.

Philip Weinman, vice-chairman of Locomote, said that the new partnership with Allianz grew out of a mutual interest in ensuring cover for corporate employees on the road. “The business travel industry continues to grow at an incredibly fast pace,” he said, “and, without a doubt, the most important thing is to make sure travellers are covered for any emergency. As an Australian company that has expanded internationally, we needed a partner which understood the local mark and had the means to offer global protection.”
