US extends Covid travel restrictions for another three months
The vaccination requirement was supposed to end on 8 January 2023
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has extended the current requirement for international visitors to the US to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to 10 April 2023. It was originally due to end on 8 January.
The rules were first implemented in October 2021 as the US prepared to reopen its borders to international travellers in November of that year.
Any non-US citizen has to provide proof of at least two Covid vaccine doses or an acceptable single-dose vaccine. Foreign airlines are also required to deny any non-US travellers who do not meet these vaccination rules to board flights to the US.
This extension comes after the US, alongside many other nations, reintroduced negative Covid test requirements for travellers from China, after the Chinese authorities relaxed its travel rules.
