True Traveller increases medical and repatriation travel insurance cover

From 1 February 2023, specialist adventure and backpacker travel insurer True Traveller has increased its medical and repatriation cover to £10 million across all of its policies.

Managing Director Tim Riley said: “We decided to do this as some customers told us they believed that the lower amount of medical cover which we offered on our budget policies meant they would get a lower standard of service when it came to medical claims.

“Although this wasn’t the case, there was nothing we could do to reassure them, so with this in mind, we discussed this with our insurer, AXA, and have increased the cover limit to £10 million, with AXA’s full support.”

True Traveller has also enhanced its winter sport coverage for policies from 1 February: “We’ve always covered off-piste and cross-country skiing, but we’re also now going to include Heliskiing as part of our Winter Sports option,” said Riley.

True Traveller covers thousands of travellers every year who go to Canada on the IEC work permit scheme, and Heliskiing is very popular in British Columbia.
