Spanish private healthcare providers recognised for their role in pandemic care
The Spanish Private Health Alliance has received an award for excellence following their work during the pandemic
The Spanish Private Health Alliance (La Alianza de la Sanidad Privada Española, ASPE) has received the Award for Excellence gifted by the International Rotary Foundation (la Fundación Rotario International). The International Rotary Foundation strives to unite leaders so they can work together to provide humanitarian services in their communities, promote ethics in their activities, and encourage peace. The foundation has the strongest presence in Madrid and Barcelona with a total of 23 clubs in the capital. Awards for excellence are given out annually by the foundation to recognise and reward entities that have carried out admirable work within the community.
Tomas Merina, a member of the Rotary Club Madrid, made the following comment whilst presenting the award: “This year, on behalf of the Club we have given out four awards for excellence to hospitals that have done great work in the most challenging moments of the pandemic and that have collaborated with our district project ‘Let’s stop the pandemic’. The four institutions that have received an award are The Spanish Private Health Alliance (ASPE), and the University Hospitals Puerta de Hierro, Infanta Leonor and Ramon and Cajal.”
Carlos Rus, the President of ASPE, explained the significance of receiving this award: “This distinction represents all health professionals who have excelled in their vocation in such difficult times for both the sector and society. It is a way to thank them for their bravery and dedication because health is a fundamental pillar in our wellbeing, and we work every day to improve this wellbeing.”
