Ryanair ‘messes up’ pilot holidays
Budget airline Ryanair was forced to cancel 82 of its flights on 17 September after revealing it had ‘messed up’ its pilots’ holiday rotas. The company’s marketing officer Kenny Jacobs has also revealed that the airline will be cancelling between 40 and 50 flights every day for the next six weeks due to huge numbers of their staff being on holiday.
The airline says that there has been a backlog of staff leave due to the busy summer period, meaning that many have taken their holiday at the same time. The company also moved its holiday year from between April and March to between January and December, meaning it was forced to accept the holiday allocation.
The airline has so far only announced cancellations up until 20 September, but in total, these changes could affect up to 285,000 passengers. Ryanair has advised those who have booked to check their emails, as they will be offered a full refund, or a seat on a different flight.
