Riskline updated weekly Covid-19 report
Travel risk intelligence company Riskline has updated its weekly Covid-19 report on travel risks
In the report, Riskline urged people undertaking travel at this time to ‘ensure they are in good health, exercise good hygiene practices and be prepared for unexpected disruptions to their travel plans’.
Countries that fall under ‘Covid-19 Risk Level Extreme’ include Andorra, Belgium, Brazil, Ecuador, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, the Netherlands, San Marino, Spain, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the US.
Riskline stated that ‘travellers should defer non-essential travel to Extreme Risk locations, which have severely restricted inbound, outbound and internal travel, near-complete disruptions to services and other activities and have widespread ongoing transmission’.
Among significant updates from the past week, Riskline mentioned Australian PM Scott Morrison announcing that current restrictions will be in place for at least another four weeks.
As of 15 April, the global number of confirmed cases has surpassed two million and President Donald Trump announced that the US will withhold funding for the World Health Organization.
India extended a nationwide lockdown until at least 3 May while France announced that its lockdown would continue until 11 May. In South Korea, officials ordered all individuals who tested positive for Covid-19 to wear a tracking bracelet to ensure compliance.
On what travellers should expect during this time, Riskline said: “Travellers should expect health screening measures at points of entry that remain open. Travellers may be quarantined until test results are complete.
“Visibly ill travellers or those suspected of having the virus are likely to be interviewed and may be required to fill out health declaration forms to allow for a proper risk assessment and possible contact tracing.”
