Pluto’s app completes beta trial
The insurtech, which is backed by Zurich, has now made its travel insurance app available for new and existing customers
“We’re super excited to share this with our customers,” said Alex Rainey, CEO of Pluto. “The app allows our customers to manage, check and change their policy quickly straight from their phone. Most insurance is ‘buy and forget’, and if you do want to make a change, get help or make a claim, then good luck! Insurers aren’t known for their leading mobile apps or allowing their customers to do everything in minutes from their phone. This is us starting to change that.”
Having just completed a successful trial period with a limited group of customers, Pluto’s app is now available for iOS, with Android rollout planned for a few months down the line. Customers who already have a policy with Pluto will be able to use the app to check their policy documentation either online or offline, make changes instantly, submit claims quickly and easily, and contact the provider ‘around the clock’ for any assistance or support required. Pluto has also said that future iterations of the app will include other services such as access to a virtual doctor, or to an airport lounge in the event of a delayed flight.
This has been a successful year for Pluto; the insurtech has accrued nearly £900,000 in investment over the course of 2019, with over £660,000 of that earned via a recent crowdfunding campaign. The funding will be channeled into an expansion of the insurtech’s London team, as well as further development of its app and efforts to expand its customer base.
