New travel insurance innovations for Hong Kong-based travellers
Hong-Kong-based online insurance provider Blue Cross has launched new travel insurance innovations
Its Travel Smart MultiTrip Insurance Package covers up to five trips and seven days per trip and allows customers to tailor-make their own travel insurance at a modest premium, according to their travel plans.
Blue Cross has also launched a Flight Delay Cash Allowance Extension with an auto-claim service. Customers input their flight information into the Blue Cross HK app at least 48 hours before departure, which activates an auto-claim service that tracks the status of the registered flight in real time. The customer will be notified if the flight is delayed for six or more consecutive hours and can then follow a simple claim procedure and receive a cash allowance under Blue Cross’ Travel Delay Benefit.
Another exciting product launched by Blue Cross is a virtual assistance called Chatbot BC Buddy. It uses AI to offer instant online customer service, giving immediate replies to travel insurance-related enquiries.
Patrick Wan, Managing Director of Blue Cross, said: "To enhance the customer service experience, Blue Cross keeps rolling out innovative products and digital services by embracing insurtech in its operations. As we all know, the people of Hong Kong are very frequent travellers, with many of them often taking several trips a year. Understanding their insurance needs, we therefore launched the Travel Smart MultiTrip Insurance Package, Flight Delay Cash Allowance Extension with Auto-claim Service as well as the Chatbot, bringing our customers an easier, more convenient and higher quality travel insurance service and experience."
