New partnership between Trustly and Norwegian Air
The online banking payments provider and low-cost airline have teamed up to enable Norwegian passengers to purchase tickets directly from their online bank account
Trustly and Norwegian Air have made the decision to partner based on evolving consumer habits – a recent study from ppro and Amadeus found that many travellers would prefer to pay for travel via alternative methods such as e-wallets and other online options, rather than the traditional cash or card avenue. In fact, in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland, online banking payments comprise 49 per cent, 70 per cent and 51 per cent respectively of total payments, while the popularity of such methods is rising rapidly in the likes of Finland, Norway and Sweden.
The partnership is now live in Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the UK, with expansion into further markets planned for the near future. Norwegian Air hopes that by offering Trustly’s services, customer conversion will be increased, and operational costs can be lowered.
“Many of Norwegian Air’s largest markets are markets where consumers already have a high preference for online banking payments,” said Johan Nord, Trustly’s Chief Commercial Officer. “This makes Trustly a great match for Norwegian, which will benefit from increased conversion in the checkout, and we’re proud to be able to support them in these key markets.”
