New MGA Gigasure launched

The new UK-based managing general agent (MGA) launched its operations on 6 August, with a focus on travel insurance

The company also unveiled its first policy, which offers app-based functionality and real-time flight and baggage delay coverage via its GigaShield parametric payout feature.

All of Gigasure’s policies will be underwritten by SiriusPoint and AmTrust International.

The MGA was founded by Ernesto Suarez, who serves as Gigasure’s Chief Executive. Suarez previously set up insurance platform Halo, which was acquired by Zurich and Cover-More in 2017.

Other high-ranking members of the team include Zurich’s former Head of Travel and Underwriting, Gary Murphy, as well as Karen McCullough, Cover-More’s former Head of Specialty for Europe.

Another UK-based MGA called OneBefore also launched in November 2023.
