New CEO for General Insurance
General Insurance, one of the three core business segments of Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich), has appointed Michael Kerner (pictured) as its new chief executive officer (CEO) and member of the Group Executive Committee (GEC). Kerner, who has previously served as CEO of North America-based Global Corporate, as well as global chief underwriting officer for General Insurance, will now be based in Zurich, and he will report to Martin Senn, Zurich CEO. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, as well as a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and economics from the State University of New York. Martin Senn praises Kerner’s ‘people management and business skills’ and his ‘deep knowledge of the technical aspects of Zurich and our industry’.
