Navacord buys Harbord Insurance

The company will be merged with Navacord’s existing British Columbia (BC) subsidiary, Waypoint Insurance
Navacord has announced its acquisition of BC-based firm Harbord Insurance, a provider of personal lines insurance.
The takeover, effective from the start of September, is the latest in[?] a line of acquisitions by Navacord in recent years, including its takeover of fellow BC firm SeaFirst Insurance Brokers in April of this year.
Harbord will then be merged with Navacord subsidiary Waypoint Insurance – a business which the company took over in 2019.
Harbord Insurance was established in 1947, and offers products in lines such as travel, home, car, recreation, and marine insurance. It serves over 26,000 clients from three offices in Victoria, Fairfield, and Sidney.
T Marshall Sadd, Executive Chairman at Navacord stated that Harbord would ‘serve as a meaningful addition to Navacord’s roster’, citing their ‘extensive offerings, reputable service, and their knowledge of the needs for our Vancouver Island clientele’.
Waypoint President and CEO Tony Hayes added that: “Harbord will round out our footprint across the island, and as two like-minded brokerages with a similar history, we look forward to delivering an enhanced experience for all of our clients.”
