Mercyhealth recognised for excellence in nursing
Mercyhealth has been awarded the Magnet recognition for excellence in nursing and high-quality patient care
The US-based healthcare company operates seven hospitals and 85 primary and speciality care locations throughout 50 northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin communities.
This event marks the second time that the organisation has received this award. During a celebration in its honour at the Javon Bea Hospital Riverside campus, Mercyhealth Vice-President Deb Potempa said: “Under 10 per cent of hospitals in the country demonstrate exemplary practice in terms of clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction. It's an achievement that means our nurses have integrated their practices, and they work together.”
In addition, Mercyhealth President and CEO Javon Bea praised the facility nurses and the hours of dedication they put into their work. "For an organisation, it is truly one of the highest, if not the highest, recognition you can achieve because our nurses are on the front lines with our patients,” he said. “They spend many more hours a day with our patients than our doctors.”
