Medical Travel Compared gets a new ambassador
Medical travel insurance aggregator Medical Travel Compared has announced a collaboration with TV doctor Sarah Jarvis, who will review and contribute to the company’s travel insurance guides featured on its website
A practicing GP since 1990, Dr Jarvis has been the doctor on the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2 for 17 years. She has been integral to growing Patient.info, for which she acts as Clinical Director providing accessible, bite-size summaries of common medical conditions. The author of six books including Women’s Health for Life, winner of the BMA Book Award in 2009, and having made three medical-themed contributions to the popular ‘For Dummies’ series, she was awarded an MBE in 2018 for services to general practice and the public understanding of health.
As a partner of Medical travel Compared, Dr Jarvis will compile guides – accessible on the website –offering help and advice to those with medical conditions, as well as answering questions about travelling with certain conditions. She will also act as the spokesperson for the educational campaigns that Medical Travel Compared will be implementing in 2020.
Tommy Lloyd, Managing Director of Medical Travel Compared, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE. Living with medical conditions impacts more than one in three of the UK’s population and Sarah’s experience educating the public on health-related travel matters will help us to engage with a greater audience and give us an additional voice of authority.”
Dr Jarvis asserted that she was thrilled to be partnering with Medical Travel Compared. “The number of patients living with long-term health conditions is rising and it is vital for people to have access to reliable, comprehensive information in a user-friendly format if they are to make the informed decisions that enable them to be in control of their health, especially when abroad,” she said.
