Max Bupa updates flagship plan
Max Bupa, a provider of health insurance products based in India, recently introduced the new edition of its flagship health offering, the Heartbeat Health Insurance Plan, ‘offering individuals, nuclear and extended families the most comprehensive health insurance plan’, according to a company release. The updated edition introduces a number of new features, including international cashless treatment for nine major critical illnesses, worldwide emergency medical evacuation provision – via Bupa International – and coverage for up to 14 relationships under a single policy and the option for ‘loyal’ customers to enhance the sum insured on renewal, irrespective of existing claims history.
The company stated: “Max Bupa has introduced the option of tapering co-pay, another industry first feature that provides customers above 60, a comprehensive coverage, with reducing and subsequently zero co-payment on continuous renewal. Max Bupa was the first insurer to offer any age enrolment and lifelong renewal with the launch of Hearbeat in 2010, enabling senior citizens to access quality healthcare, who were until then excluded from the ambit of health insurance, owing to high risk associated with the segment.” The company’s CEO Manasije Mishra added that ‘our flagship product … is already the most preferred family health cover in the [Indian] market’. “The new edition of Heartbeat has been designed to address the evolving health needs of our customers,” Mishra added. “[It] offers exclusive benefits to families like international treatment, reduced waiting periods and comprehensive coverage up to Rs 1 Crore.” Max Bupa will also now cover pre-existing diseases after two years, against the general industry practice of four years, to enable customers to use their health cover when they need it.
