ITIJ gears up for ITIC UK event
ITIC UK is on the horizon, as is the much-anticipated outcome of Brexit, but with the original deadline for the UK leaving the European Union having passed, we as an industry will do some damage assessment. What is the state of reciprocal health agreements – will travel insurers have to increase premiums if no deal is agreed before the UK exits the EU on 31 October? And what about the effects on air travel in the immediate aftermath of the UK’s departure from the EU?
With Brexit dominating the UK headlines, it is natural that the insurance industry continues to look to regulators for indications of how best to mediate the impact of a host of potential outcomes. ITIJ will be reporting from ITIC UK next month, where we will be joining key decision-makers from the UK travel insurance market as they wrangle with the implications.
Leading the conversations will be Alisa Dolgova, Brexit Manager at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) – currently spearheading the insurance industry’s response to Brexit; Nel Mooy – who is navigating this ever-changing market landscape as Head of Travel for AXA Insurance; and Matt Francis, Director at KPMG, currently responsible for helping a number of insurers to prepare and implement their contingency plans.
This panel will be addressing the current state of affairs, as it stands, when the conference kicks off in Southampton on 9 May 2019, and will be tackling the many questions that still abound on the topic. Join us there to be part of the debate and be sure to keep an eye out for further updates as we stay on top of the latest Brexit-related developments.
