Funway Holidays to cease trading
The UK-based operator, which is nearly three decades old and employs nearly 50 people, is to close on 30 September due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic
From 7 July, Funway will no longer be taking new bookings or re-bookings, and all bookings departing on 1 September or after will be cancelled. The business has reportedly said that it will ‘honour its obligations’ before winding down, and it vows to offer as supportive a service as possible during the period of closure. All queries will be responded to, and the leadership team will remain in post for now.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful agent partners,” a statement from Funway said. “While [our] journey is coming to a close, we hope all of our partners emerge from this crisis and enjoy a most prosperous future.” The company’s marketing director, meanwhile, said that the closure of the company was reflective of ‘just how severely the travel industry is being impacted by Covid-19’.
Voted Virgin Atlantic Tour Operator of the Year in 2003, the company began by offering UK customers holidays to the US, later expanding operations to include Mexico and the Caribbean.
