Ebola rages on in the Democratic Republic of Congo
In the latest update from the World Health Organization, it has been revealed that 15 confirmed cases of Ebola were reported between 30 October and 5 November.
The WHO said that it carried out its most recent risk assessment on 8 October, concluding that the national and regional risk levels remain very high, while global risk levels remain low. Despite the seemingly good news of low global risk, the WHO warned that continued vigilance is essential. It said that risk continues to be mitigated by response and preparedness activities in the DRC and neighbouring countries, with support from a consortium of international partners.
When it comes to travel advice, the WHO continues to advise against any restriction of travel to the DRC, providing that travellers seek medical advice before travelling and practise good hygiene.
