The Department for International Trade appoints new adviser
Sam Shah, formerly the director of transformation at NHSX, is to become the Global Clinical and Digital Adviser for the Department of International Trade as of 3 February 2020
In his new role, Shah will continue to work to support the National Health Service (NHS), UK healthcare organisations and suppliers in accessing international opportunities, as well as promoting UK healthcare on a global scale.
Shah has publicised his enthusiasm for his new role, with specific emphasis on the opportunities for global collaboration presented by healthcare and digital health technology.
“These are sectors where the UK does particularly well,” he said. “We have an established health system and progressive ideas about how to improve services for patients. The technology that follows is exciting. For example, the work we have done around record sharing attracts great interest globally – not least for the range of different ways of working that have been achieved between the NHS, EMR and EHR systems and integration engines.”
Elsewhere, Shah is a champion for diversity. He said: “As I move organisations it’s great to be moving into a team that is already very diverse and to work with team members that are operating across the globe.”
