Covid infections low among travellers in the UK
Only four out of every 1,000 fully vaccinated travellers have tested positive for Covid-19 upon their return to the UK in July, new research shows
The data showed that at the end of July, only 0.4 per cent of vaccinated travellers arriving at UK airports tested positive for Covid-19, the Telegraph reported.
Arrivals jabbed only once were twice as likely to test positive, representing 0.8 per cent of arrivals. According to the analysis by testing firm Cignpost Diagnostics, which reportedly conducts 11,000 tests on arrivals a day, only between 1 and 1.2 per cent of unvaccinated holidaymakers also tested positive.
The new statistics come as pressure mounts on the government to ease the PCR testing regime. Meanwhile, the new Digital Travel Certification for Lateral Flow Self-Tests from Certific allows travellers leaving the UK to carry out rapid antigen tests at home, and receive a test certificate on their phone before travel.
