China erects hospital for coronavirus patients

In what may go down as one of the most ambitious engineering feats of this decade, the Chinese city of Wuhan has announced plans to build a 1,000-bed hospital in less than a week
Following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus – which has, at the time of writing, infected 830 people across China and claimed the lives of 26, with the entire city of Wuhan subsequently entering a state of complete lockdown – local authorities are erecting a new hospital specifically to treat victims of the epidemic, driven by reports of bed shortages in hospitals around the city.
The hospital is being built using prefabricated buildings around a holiday complex intended for local workers. The site is located by a lake on the outskirts of the city. China State Construction Engineering, one of the companies building the hospital, said on Friday it had more than 100 workers on the site. The hospital is expected to be built within six days.
