Travel work

Almost half of travellers have taken a ‘blended trip’ – one in which both work and leisure occur – according to a survey by Squaremouth

The survey, which polled more than 2,500 of Squaremouth’s travel insurance customers about their travel plans, found that 43 per cent of respondents have taken a ‘blended’ trip in the past.

Blended travel can include adding extra days onto the end of a business trip, or working remotely during a vacation.

The survey also found that roughly a quarter (24 per cent) of Squaremouth customers expected to take a blended trip in some capacity within the next 12 months.

Of those travellers that voiced interest in blended travel, 53 per cent said that they would prefer to add vacation days onto their business trips; 39 per cent would prefer to work remotely while on a personal vacation; while eight per cent would prefer to travel and work together simultaneously as a ‘digital nomad’.

Squaremouth also published a report on the impact of travel delays and missed connections in 2023 last month.
