Are the recent bans affecting travel plans?
In light of US president Donald Trump’s travel ban and recent bans on electronic devices, tech-enabled black car service GroundLink has surveyed 400 travellers on their international travel habits and opinions.
While 90 per cent of respondents said they will not change their travel plans based on the bans, half said that they will avoid travelling to the Middle East. Only seven per cent said they will avoid travelling internationally altogether, while six percent will continue to travel internationally for business but avoid travelling out of the country for leisure.
Nearly 46 per cent said they are just as concerned about terrorist threats abroad this year as they were the same time last year. Thirty percent said they are neither more nor less concerned, while 21 percent are more concerned this year than they were last year.
According to the survey results, the Middle East ranks highest as the region that concerns American travellers most (44 per cent), followed by Europe (22 per cent), while Asia is only of concern to two per cent of those surveyed.
