Steward Health Care and Wolters Kluwer aim to standardise hospital care
US-based integrated private hospital network Steward Health Care has announced a partnership with Wolters Kluwer, through which it aims to tackle variations in hospital care via the use of technology.
Steward Health Care operates 38 hospitals over 10 US states, and is projected to care for approximately three million patients this year. In order to standardise decision-making processes in the hope of improving care standards for these patients, Steward will be using a variety of clinical support tools developed by Wolters Kluwer. These tools, along with real-time surveillance technology, will be integrated into the workflows of medical staff and affiliated persons in order to improve efficiency and standards, while also providing patients with more choice and enabling them to be more hands-on in terms of the care that they receive.
“We are focused on ensuring patients benefit from the best possible standards of care,” said Steward’s Chief Medical Officer Joseph Weinstein. “[The new tools rely] on the most current, evidence-based knowledge and technology that is optimised for [our clinicians’] unique workflows. Across our widespread population, our patients are safer as we implement tools to detect infections more quickly and accurately.”
Steward will integrate Wolters Kluwer Health technology into its UpToDate decision support platform, as well as utilising ‘evidence-based software’ from the company’s Lippincott division and enabling its Ovid platform, which will provide access to millions of health journals, books and other resources.
