Major parametric partnership enters African market
Blink Parametric’s flight disruption assistance service will be available via MAWDY’s partner network to customers across the Sub-Saharan region
Irish insurtech Blink Parametric and MAWDY, the global insurance, reinsurance and services company and part of the MAPFRE Group, are continuing their global rollout of real-time travel assistance insurtech to the network of ceding insurers reinsured by MAWDY across the Sub-Saharan region.
This latest move will offer Blink Parametric’s flight disruption assistance service via MAWDY’s partner network to customers initially across Kenya and thereafter on a phased basis to in-country partner networks across the region.
Once a traveller registers their flight details, Blink Parametric monitors the flight in real time. When the insured traveller’s flight is disrupted by a four-hour delay, they are notified and offered VIP access to one of 1,300 executive airport lounges worldwide, to help alleviate the stress and consequences of the disruption. The access is valid for six months if not used on the day of disruption.
Sid Mouncey, CEO of Blink Parametric, said: “MAWDY solutions power some of the biggest insurance brands across five continents and with our Blink Parametric platform is now primed to switch on and start delivering real-time travel assistance, worldwide, 24/7 to their partners and customers in Kenya. I look forward to building on this exciting new market experience across Africa.”
Speaking of the partnership, Zigor Díez Gamboa, Global Head of Travel Segment at MAWDY, said: “MAWDY operates in Sub-Saharan Africa within the travel insurance, banking and airline sectors. Supporting our 160-strong partner base and their customers over the past 20 years has established MAWDY as the travel reinsurer of reference in most markets, and we continue to grow. Adding Blink Flight Disruption to our service benefits across Africa allows us to offer a superior service delivery and boost our digital assistance innovation strategy for the region.”
Blink recently announced a partnership with the newly launched managing general agent (MGA) Gigasure.
