International SOS teams up with Penn State
The US-based Penn State University has announced International SOS as its official travel risk management partner
International SOS will provide travel risk management to all members of the Penn State community travelling outside the US on university-affiliated business.
The service is available to ‘all Penn State faculty, staff, and students’, and Penn State added ‘no action is needed on the part of the travellers’ as the service is ‘paid for and automatically provided by the university’.
The arrangement allows university personnel to access a range of services via the International SOS app, including:
- Up-front assistance paying most medical fees
- The ability to find local medical professionals around the world
- The ability to connect with teams of multi-lingual doctors, nurses, security and logistics experts.
The university reiterated that the coverage only applies to Penn State-affiliated travel, and recommended that affiliates of the university that are travelling for personal reasons should continue to purchase their own medical travel coverage.
International SOS recently refreshed its LGBTQ+ module in June of this year.
