Generali appoints new Insurance Chief Executive
The company has announced Giulio Terzariol as its first ever Chief Executive for Insurance, effective from January 2024
Terzariol joins Generali from Allianz, where he has worked since 1998 – most recently serving as the company’s Chief Financial Officer since 2018.
He joined Allianz after previously working at Generali for two years as a trainee. The new appointment marks his return to the company after 26 years. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Bocconi University.
Terzariol will reportedly have oversight of the activities of all CEOs in Generali’s insurance business units, with the intention of enhancing ‘coordination, effectiveness, and strategic alignment across geographies’. Additionally, the creation of the new division will aim to ‘streamline and simplify the group organisational model’.
Following the start of his new appointment, Terzariol will become a member of Generali’s group management committee – reporting to Group Chief Executive Philippe Donnet.
Donnet welcomed Terzariol back to the company, stating: “We will benefit from the wealth of experience that Giulio is bringing to the group, leading teams in different countries across the world.”
“It is an exciting time for Generali, as demonstrated by the success of our strategy, strong financial position, and profitable growth. I am confident that with the addition of Giulio to our leadership team, recently recognised by the market as the best in Europe, we will continue to strengthen our position in the insurance sector,” he added.
Generali announced the launch of Generali Malaysia in May 2023.
