Cover-More launches new optional travel add-on
Cover-More has unveiled a new ‘Cancellation Plus Cover’ add-on for its travel insurance plans
Described by Cover-More Australia CEO Todd Nelson as an “evolution of cancellation for any reason (CFAR)” policies, the Cancellation Plus Cover add-on provides extra coverage for a range of personal circumstances.
This includes “sickness of a close friend, anxiety about travel, relationship break-ups, work commitments, unexpected household expenses, or even changes in pregnancy plans”.
Available to Australian travellers, the add-on can be acquired when purchasing a policy more than seven days before a trip, and can be used if the journey is cancelled at least 48 hours before the intended departure.
Greater flexibility
The add-on is applicable to both Cover-More’s domestic and international plans, and is intended to offer greater flexibility to travellers than would be offered by standard policies.
Customers whose claims are accepted via Cancellation Plus Cover can receive up to 75% of the non-refundable, unused portion of prepaid travel costs, capped at A$10,000 per policy. This includes expenses such as flights, accommodation, cruises, tours, and transport that are non-refundable and unrecoverable by other means.
Some more extreme situations, such as ash clouds, widespread physical destruction, and government-mandated border closures, remain excluded, however.
Nelson explained: “While the standard cancellation cover offers broad protection for travellers, Cancellation Plus Cover offers more cover for those times when life or other complications get in the way of travel plans.”
Parent company Cover-More Group announced David Fike as its new CEO in July.
