A dynamic year
ITIJ spoke to Claudia Schmiedhuber, Managing Director of EURAMI, about their recent conference, and plans for 2024
First of all, how are you doing and what updates can you share about EURAMI?
I'm doing well, thank you. Excited for the new year, I expect for many great things to happen! With regard to EURAMI, it's been an incredibly dynamic year for the organisation, marked by noteworthy achievements and progress like the launch of the Commercial Airline Medical Escort Standards 2.0. One standout moment was the successful launch of the inaugural EURAMI Conference, drawing in a substantial audience of over 80 of our members participating. The conference, with its lively agenda and expert speakers, provided a platform for engaging discussions and valuable insights within the community and we have received amazing feedback so far. So, I am excited for the second EURAMI Conference already!
As you mentioned, EURAMI has recently launched the new Commercial Airline Medical Escort 2.0. Standards, why was that necessary and what should providers and clients look out for?
The introduction of the Commercial Airline Medical Escort Standards (CAME) 2.0 represents a signifi cant leap forward for EURAMI, and its necessity became evident given that the previous version did not encompass the latest advancements in the aero-medical and global healthcare industry, nor did it include any medical endorsements, allowing for CAME providers to become endorsed according to their medical capabilities. Addressing this gap was imperative, particularly as the last version did not refl ect the latest developments, and crucial questions were raised by members and assistance companies. The current version now includes all of these changes, making it a well-rounded and inclusive set of standards. Like the Fixed Wing 6.0. version, the collaborative effort in crafting the latest standards involved a committee composed of experts in relevant fi elds, resulting in a well-rounded set of standards with new endorsements that showcase the remarkable capabilities of accredited providers.
For the first time ever, EURAMI has held its very own EURAMI Conference last year, what are you planning for the second installment in Vienna?
The launch of the EURAMI Conference last year was certainly a huge milestone for the association, with most of our membership attending, a packed agenda with engaging speakers and lots of lively discussions – so quite a challenge for the second EURAMI Conference to be equally positive! We are just in the process of planning and have launched our EURAMI Agenda Committee recently, which will be working on the agenda, topics, and speaker selection. I expect for the first draft to be fi nalised by April and to be launched soon thereafter. Without giving too much away, we are keeping a similar format like last year and will assure that we keep it as current and engaging as we did last time, as the membership really appreciated this approach.
You have a packed agenda for this year, what else is EURAMI working on currently?
Besides the planning of our EURAMI Conference and kicking off the Rotary Wing 6.0. standards we are currently updating our EURAMI Audit Software, which allows for digital scoring and reporting during our audits. We also have quite a busy audit year, with 20+ audits planned, ranging from re-accreditations, primary accreditations, additional base reviews, and dual accreditations. This will certainly keep our auditors busy!
Other than that, we are working on updating our statutes and will, of course, prepare for our General Assembly which will take place the morning after our EURAMI Conference. As it is voting year, we will hold Board Elections as well as elect a new President and Vice President. So, another very busy year for EURAMI which hopefully will be equally positive and successful as the last one!
